Jim Considine
Since 2002, Jim has been an independent advisor to corporate executives, asset managers and investors. He has tackled problems ranging from restructuring and negotiating convertible bond and derivative transactions to identifying merits and risks of corporate expansion initiatives. He has performed rigorous analyses for potential recapitalizations, as well as led clients' internal teams and executive searches. Jim's practice spans strategic, tactical and operational challenges while specializing in those with complex financial risks.
Investment Banking Executive
Prior to launching the advisory practice, Jim was the head of the Equity Financial Products division ("EFP") for Fleet National Bank (formerly Bank Boston) and for Robertson Stephens, then a 1600-person boutique investment bank dedicated to growth companies. He sat on the management committee for Robertson and was a Managing Director of both firms.
Recruited as a lead trader to launch EFP within both entities, Jim led its explosive growth into a $100+ million business across multiple locations, legal entities and product lines. As a lead trader, he co-directed the creation of risk management, marketing, systems, financial, operations, legal, documentation, administration and regulatory compliance infrastructure.
Derivatives Trader
Both during his tenure at Robertson and in his final years at JP Morgan Securities, Jim was a senior derivatives trader: specializing in highly structured transactions, exotic options and equity risk management. Prior to his move to derivatives, he was among JP Morgan's initial five equity position traders, where additionally he co-directed the formation of its front- and middle-office systems and processes.
Systems Professional
Prior to trading, Jim spent a total of five years across three systems professional roles within JP Morgan: from financial database management for corporate finance professionals to advising global markets executives on the effective deployment of technology to meet aggressive global expansion plans.
Education
JP Morgan sponsored Jim to attend, full time, the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University for three summers, wherein he earned an MBA in Finance/Capital Markets with Dean's list and Beta Gamma Sigma honors. He also holds a BS in Computer Science from Boston College.
